2016 got off to the worst possible start after a dire performance by The Wells away to Canterbury City.
City took the lead after 8mins when Dave Pilcher fired home into an empty net after Steve Lawrence was forced to rush out of his area to defend but failed to get to the ball in time.
The Wells were 2-0 down after 25mins when what seemed to be a routine back pass caused a mix up involving Jason Barton and Steve Lawrence and City's Jordan Casey sneaked in to double Canterbury's lead.
Despite Joe Nwoko having a shot cleared off the line The Wells had no answer to the more committed display from Canterbury.
Wells slip to 17th and 3rd from bottom in the league.
