Jason Bourne's first game in charge ended in disappointment as The Wells lost 2-1 to Rochester Utd on a wet and miserable day at The Culverden.
The Wells were caught cold at the beginning of both halves with Rochester's Dan Gonzalez-Bello opening the scoring after 6mins when he latched onto a rebounded Steve Lawrence save.
The Wells equalised 18mins later through debutant Joe Nwoko who slotted Cooley passed Shaun Wicks in the Rochester goal after good link up play withAndy Irvine.
2mins into the Second half and Wells were caught napping as Vince Collis guided his shot passed Lawrence for the winner.
Jason Bourne Reaction :
After a disappointing result yesterday we can only afford to look at the positives we can take from the game. To be honest we did not do enough to win the game over 90 mins both teams looked to play in a similar way and in the end they where more clinical with their chances. Irvine, Joe Nowoko Perry & Scott got 90 mins under there belt which will stand us in good stead and we were able to play three 17 year olds which is the foundations we will be looking to build on but this will take time and patience.
In the short term we are just looking to get up and running and start to build momentum as I know the coaching staff and players we have on board are as single minded as me in what we want to achieve. This will take some tinkering and slightly re shaping but I feel this is only minor details that will turn losses into wins and we will keep working hard until that happens.
