The Wells indifferent form continued with a 2-1 defeat to league new comers AFC Croydon Athletic.
The Wells took the lead inside the first minute of the game when Chris Seenan fired the visitors in front.
The Rams equalised through Lee Jansen on 14 mins and then took the lead 10mins later when Craig Nelson found the net.
New signing Hakim Griffiths scored for the second successive game for his new side to level things 2 minutes later.
Jansen however found the net for a second time on 63mins which proved to be the match winner.
With the leagues big spenders Greenwich Borough and Ashford Utd both losing Manager Keith Bird will no doubt be rueing the missed opportunity of closing the gap on the league leaders.
The Wells move up to 8th in SCEFL table however on goal difference.
The Wells return to action when they host Holmesdale Tuesday evening at the Culverden.
Kick Off 7:45pm
