FA VASE THIRD ROUND DRAW

The draw for the FA Vase Third Round Proper has been made at FA Headquarters. Tunbridge Wells will travel to AFC Portchester on Saturday, December 6th. They play in the Wessex League Premier Division and are based on the outskirts of Portsmouth.

AFC Portchester currently sit 10th in their league (of 21), having picked up 27 points from 17 matches. They've won eight and drawn three of those opening league fixtures, and have reached the Third Round with wins over Bitton (home, 2-1), Hamworthy (home, 2-1), Reading Town (home, 2-1), and United Services Portsmouth (away, 3-1), having started their Road to Wembley in the First Qualifying Round.

“We asked for a non SCEFL tie and that’s what we have got," Martin Larkin noted on news of the draw. "It's a long trip, but we would hope to take a good following down there and give it our best shot!”

Following Saturday’s 5-1 win at Westfield, Larkin believes the Vase is having a great effect on his side. “The Vase has definitely galvanised us as a team – that’s eight goals in two games now. Saturday was a great result and performance, and while I’ve read comments that the score line flattered us, it was quite the opposite in my opinion. The competition’s brought the best out of us and the club as a whole – as Saturday showed,” Larkin concluded. “We’re looking forward to the trip to AFC Portchester now.”
